This was my entry for the The New Yorker's 2010 Eustace Tilley cover contest. I didn't win, but I sure enjoyed creating this illustration. My entry's caption:
"In order to face our fast-paced modern world with all its tribulations, a buttoned-up dandy like Eustace Tilley might benefit from herbal medicinal treatment."
Here are the actual winners, darn them all.
This was done for the first New York Press issue of 2010. The big blob in the background is from Monsters Vs. Aliens. No one seems to get that reference. I should've put the guy from The Hurt Locker in there, but at the time the blob seemed way more fun to illustrate! That's my problem, I just like to draw fun stuff.
As some of you may have noticed, Cartoon Curio is no longer being updated. Sadly my gmail account was hacked a few months ago and the jerk who did it changed my blogspot password, preventing me from posting on Cartoon Curio. However, I've decided to continue my illustration blog here, so welcome!
